As many of you may know our pregnancy was very easy. I didn't gain much weight, only had to deal with morning sickness for 3 months, only had swelling 3 weeks before baby Kai was born and felt pretty great even at 40 weeks. I heard a saying that said the easier the pregnancy, the harder to labor. I laughed at this saying up until labor began. Blake and I spent the night of Tuesday April 9th in Labor and Delivery with contractions 5 minutes apart. After being told I was only dilated to 2cm, the doctor gave us the option to either be admitted or head home to spend the rest of early labor in the comfort of our own home. We were told to come back if the pain increased or if contractions were only a few minutes apart. We decided to head home to wait it out. By the time we got home, contractions were closer together and becoming more painful. We spent most of the night timing contractions and pain. Pain got to the point that I couldn't walk or talk through contractions. Around 8am on Wednesday April 10th we packed up the car, called our families and headed to the hospital. Upon arrival, we were admitted to L&D. We had not anticipated I would spend the next 30 hours laying in the same bed until baby Kai arrived. After 30 hours of active labor, an epidural, pitocin and a vacuum assist, baby Kai arrived at 1:06 pm on Thursday April 11th, 9 pounds 2 oz, 22 inches long. We knew he would be a big baby but not a BIG baby. Even though we spent over 48 hours in the hospital, every minute was worth it to hold baby in our arms.
Wowza! I can't believe it too so long. But good job. And this picture of Blake and Kai is amazing.
