Our little daredevil

I'm sure you could ask either set of our parents and they would tell you both Blake and I were fearless kids. Running around, climbing trees, riding horses, crawling around in the creek or covered in mud. It looks as if our little dude has taken after both his parents. Kai has been climbing up on furniture for a few weeks now but he has recently developed a taste for danger. Exhibit one: Climbing up on his piano to reach a button on the pack and play. He has crawled up on to his dresser while balancing on my calf. My favorite move is when he wants something on the coffee table. He pulls himself up, props his bottom up against the couch and then grabs what he wants. This way, he is essentially doing a wall squat and has both hands free to grab at whatever he pleases.  Our only unfortunate mishap was when he was taken for a ride, courtesy of Bo's tail. Kai was pulled 1/4 of the way down the hallway while Bo walked to the kitchen. I will say, this did not end well. Kai hit his huge noggin on the wall and let go of Bo's tail shortly after. After reading this post back to myself, I have a little bit of mommy guilt like I am not paying good enough attention to my child. In all honesty though, I feel there is no way to get around it. I could leave the room only for a second to put away laundry or for a few minutes to wash my face but I will always return to a front room full of toys thrown everywhere and a strong willed curious baby balancing on a plastic piano. Karma. Right, Mom?

Side note: For all of you parents who had a baby in 2013. Beware. The Chinese zodiac said children born in the year of the snake will be not only fearless but very intelligent. Pretty dangerous combo right?

  1. Nah, not Karma....it is luck. I am happy he is a go-getter like his mommy. It always helped to turn on some music and ask you to dance! As long as his noggin is safe from flying chairs and such, I think he is good to go! You had a couple of topples pulling yourself up on chairs, but thankfully none of them came down on your head :)
